a guy i worked with had a cousin who owned a bunch of those 1 900 numbers in the 1980s before they were regulated he became a millionaire owning them and one of the main reasons he was able to was because he somehow got the beeper numbers of just about every ups driver in the country he hired people to constantly beep them and since barely anyone had cellphones back then most of the drivers would ask use phone of whatever office they were delivering packages to. he told us the entire story over beers one night when my co worker invited him to come have beers with us
